Culture of CARE program goes national AGC of America has announced the nationwide launch of Culture of CARE, a campaign that originated here at AGC of Washington. The program invites construction firms to build inclusive workplaces that are free from harassment, hazing and bullying by taking the Culture of CARE pledge. More information about the campaign can be found at www.BuildCulture.org. In addition, today’s ConstructorCast podcast episode features three panelists discussing the genesis of Culture of CARE here in Washington state, the rollout of the national campaign, and why companies should take the pledge. AGC of America will soon be emailing all members & sharing messages on social media with more information, including how take the national Culture of CARE pledge.

Insurer liability for business closures due to COVID-19: "physical loss" or "damage?" (Oles Morrison) Approximately one-third of U.S. businesses have "business interruption" insurance, intended to cover losses from events that force them to suspend or stop operations. Many of these policies also contain specific "civil authority" clauses, which cover losses when a government agency stops a business from operating. However, in the wake of
unprecedented business interruptions – caused by the spread of COVID-19 and government orders shutting down "non-essential" businesses – major insurers have uniformly denied businesses owners coverage for their losses. Read more...
