AGC’s BUILD PAC Endorses YES on I-645 to Repeal Washington’s Income Tax
AGC’s BUILD PAC has endorsed Initiative 645 and made a financial contribution to the Yes Repeal the Income Tax campaign. We’re now asking AGC members to join us in supporting the effort.
The ballot language may be confusing, but the choice is straightforward: If you want to repeal Washington’s income tax, vote YES on I-645. I-645 asks voters whether to repeal the new 9.9% tax on household income of $1 million or more.
Why should AGC members care?
Although the tax is often described as affecting only high-income households, its reach can extend to Washington business owners. Income flowing through LLCs, partnerships, and S corporations will contribute to the $1 million household threshold, and married couples share the same $1 million threshold.
There’s also a bigger, longer-term concern: Today’s $1 million threshold doesn’t have to remain tomorrow’s threshold. Future Legislatures could lower it or otherwise expand who is subject to the tax.
Vote YES on I-645 in the November General Election to repeal the income tax.

Join AGC and representatives from the Washington State Attorney General’s Office on Sept. 23 at 11 a.m.for a contractor-focused virtual webinar explaining the new law and what employers should do to prepare.
The discussion will focus particularly on new employee notification and posting requirements, required notices following I-9 inspections, restrictions involving access to worker records, and other employer compliance obligations.
