Retro members see $81M in refunds
Congratulations to our Group Retro members for achieving a whopping $81,289,128 in refunds for our most recent three years in cycle.
"This year, we were able to increase our final adjustment year by nearly a million dollars such that our top net member refunds hit 59%," said Lauren Gubbe, director of AGCW's Group Retro program. "On top of excellent refund results for members in all plan years, we hit our own internal target for beating last year’s total tracked savings before the adjustments."

"These results reflect the caliber of our members and their shared commitment to safety from the top down and bottom up in conjunction with their investment in light-duty accommodation. Their efforts, along with our plan underwriting, performance-based refund allocation and the skilled AGC staff assistance, continue to produce excellent results year in and year out," said Van Hardy, AGC Retro Chairman.
To alleviate delays due to COVID-19, refund checks will be distributed by mail. Annual experience-modification rate (EMR) performance awards will be either mailed or hand-delivered by various AGC staff.

Construction employment stalls as soaring costs, supply-chain challenges, workforce shortages undermine recovery
(Compact Equipment Magazine) Construction employment was unchanged from March to April as nonresidential contractors and homebuilders alike struggled to obtain materials and find enough workers, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of government data released today. Association officials said the industry’s recovery was being hampered by problems getting stable prices and reliable deliveries of key materials, while the pandemic and federal policies were making it harder for firms to find workers to hire... Report: Construction workers most hesitant to get vaccinated
(Construction Dive) The study found that overall vaccine hesitancy among all respondents decreased from 27.5% in January to 22.1% in March, indicating the progression of vaccine rollout is leading to increased acceptance, the researchers said. The resistance still concerns medical experts, and the need for more willing vaccine participants is paramount to reaching normalcy, Wendy C. King, associate professor of epidemiology for Pitt’s Graduate School of Public Health, said in a release.
"Vaccine hesitancy is emerging as a key barrier to ending the COVID-19 pandemic," King, who was also the lead author of the study, said. "Identifying occupations with a high rate of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy and understanding the reasons for hesitancy can help public health practitioners and the health care community target interventions and address concerns to hopefully increase vaccination rates."

Governor's vetoes upend transportation package discussions
Governor Inslee surprised even members of his own party last week when he vetoed sections of the recently-passed cap-and-trade and low carbon fuel standard bills.
Specifically, the Governor vetoed the sections of each bill that would have prevented their full implementation unless a new transportation package is also passed by Jan. 1, 2023.
AGC opposed the cap-and-trade (SB 5126) and low-carbon fuel standard (
E3SHB 1091) bills but supported the tie-ins to a transportation package... Read more.
