best-practices guide now available

WSDOT -- and likely other public agencies -- will soon be requiring project-specific safety plans regarding COVID-19. AGCW’s Safety Department has developed a Site-Specific Workplan and corresponding Jobsite Best-Practices Guide to help members comply with these requirements. Of course, all members are encouraged to develop their own COVID-19 plans in any case. Click the links above to view the desired document.

L&I: Workers’-comp and state-paid leave info
Washington State's Department of Labor & Industries has created a special web page cataloguing information regarding COVID-19 and workers’-comp and state-paid sick leave issues. You can find information on issues such as COVID-19 as a workers’-comp claimable condition in limited circumstances, use of paid sick leave if a business is shut down by public officials, covered treatment and more. DOR and IRS: Tax extensions announced
The State Department of Revenue can provide an extension on both the filing and payment of taxes. Learn more here. The IRS is also offering extensions on the filing and payment of taxes. Learn more here. (Note: At press time, the IRS had announced the extension of tax filing as well as tax payments. The IRS website had not been updated to reflect the filing extension, but the IRS had publicly announced the new filing date will be July 15.)
ESD: Expansion of unemployment-insurance programs
The State Employment Security Department expanded programs to help support businesses and workers. For example, there’s an opportunity to extend standby status. Standby means that employees do not have to look for other work, but need to be available for any work you offer that they can do if quarantined or isolated. Click here to learn more.
SBA: Loans available for disaster relief
The U.S. Small Business Administration offers low-interest disaster loans for working capital to small businesses suffering substantial economic injury as a result of COVID-19.  Click here to learn more.
Build Washington Awards canceled
The 2020 Build Washington Awards, scheduled for May 13 at Seattle's Museum of Flight, has been postponed indefinitely (along with the judging process) and will be rescheduled for sometime later this year. Please stay tuned for updates.
